Bonjour Son,
How’s it going there today? I hope that you are having nothing short of an amazing day.
Today I’d like to share another quote with you that I really think we can all benefit from:
“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.” – Jim Rohn
When you first read that, how does it make you feel? I admit that it doesn’t initially present itself as something super motivating or inspiring. Personally, though, I find it to be completely true.
We all have experienced the pain of regret. One of the biggest causes of the pain of regret is procrastinating and not taking action. For instance, you can ask anyone to complete the following phrases: “I wish I would have…” or “I should have…”. Almost everyone who is honest will tell you that they wish they would have done certain things in their lives differently.
Sometimes our fear of making the wrong decisions will keep us from making decisions. In reality, not making a decision is a decision in and of itself. On the one hand, by not making a decision, you can possibly avoid making the wrong decision. On the other hand, at least when you make a decision that turns out to be the wrong decision, you become equipped with more knowledge of what doesn’t work. This knowledge, in fact, can now be used to help you make more informed decisions in the future.
This is such an interesting topic that we should dig deeper into it in a future letter.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
