My Letters To My Son

Hello Son

February 19, 2024 By Dad

Hello Son,

How are things going there on this most amazing day? As always, I know I must sound like a broken record, but I hope that your day is going great and that you’re looking forward to an amazing week ahead!

Here is something that I read somewhere that I thought was interesting:

““No” is a complete sentence.”

Now to some people that might sound harsh, but in reality, it can serve each of us quite well.

Saying no is often seen as being negative, but saying no can also be quite positive. For instance, saying no to a group of friends that want you to do something that you’re not really into can save both you and your friends time and frustration. I have encountered this many times after just saying yes to people for so many years.

If you say no to a group of friends who are trying to get you to do something you’re not really into, then you save both them and you from experiencing a level of disappointment. What I mean by that is if you’re not really thrilled about a particular activity and you would rather do something else, you may not have a good attitude when you are there with friends. When your friends sense that you don’t have the best attitude that may sour the entire experience for them as well. In that case everyone loses!

Just remember that saying no doesn’t make you a bad person. In reality, it is your right to dictate how your time is spent. We can chat about this topic anytime you wish.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
