My Letters To My Son

Hello Son

May 19, 2025 By Dad

Hello Son,

How are things going there today? I hope that all is well and that you had a great weekend.

Happiness is not the absence of pain, frustration, disappointment, or failure. I’m considered to be a super-happy person and yet, I have challenges just like everyone else. The key is to understand that every single second of every day does not have to be perfect for your day to be amazing.

I just thought of something. Think of a rubber band sitting on a desk. We will call the current state of the rubber band, “happy.” Now, let’s take that same rubber band and stretch it out a bit, and call that state, “stressed.”

What do you think happens when we let go of the rubber band? It returns to its original state of, “happy.” This is how we should and can be. We should be able to return to, “happiness” even after we are stressed.

Making happiness your default state takes practice to make it a habit. Once it is established as a habit, it basically runs on autopilot.

Just curious, what things make you happy?

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
