My Letters To My Son

Hello Son

January 26, 2026 By Dad

Hello Son,

How was your weekend? I hope that it went well and that you accomplished exactly what you wanted to accomplish, whether it be rest and relaxation or getting some essential things done.

You know, we always want things to move smoothly in life. I know I do. Do you think it’s naive to believe that everything will go smoothly in life?

Well, sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned in life and that, of course, leads to disappointment. You have probably heard the phrase, “hope for the best and plan for the worst.”

There can be a delicate mental balancing act that we must do in order to remain optimistic, but at the same time remain realistic. Quite naturally, thinking that disaster is around every corner is not the way to go through life. Realistically, a life filled with fear is not really a life at all.

Let’s look at an example of something that may shed some light on life and its challenges. Let’s take the example of a boxer. Do you think there is any boxer in the world that steps into the ring and doesn’t expect to get punched by the other boxer? Personally, I don’t think any boxer feels that way. A boxer knows that in his journey to win the fight, he is going to take some punches.

Like a boxer, we have to realize that, of course we want to win in life, but at the same time we have to realize that the journey to accomplishing our goals we’ll have challenges. Since we are going to have challenges, it makes perfect sense for us to learn from each one. In this way we can potentially avoid that challenge in the future or at least minimize its effects.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
