My Letters To My Son

Good Morning Son

February 2, 2026 By Dad

Good Morning Son,

How are you doing on this fine morning? As always, I hope that you had a great weekend and that you are ready for the week ahead.

I have to admit that this week is already off to a pretty great start. Interestingly enough though, I don’t always leap out of bed with that particular thought in mind. Sometimes I wake up and feel like I haven’t gotten enough sleep. At times, the thought enters my head to lay my head back on the pillow and grab a few more snoozes. I’ve tried that before, and all it does is irritate you because you eventually are going to have to get up and you won’t be giving yourself enough time to get into a deep and restful sleep.

How about you? Do you sleep well every night? If so, good for you as sleep is very important for your health.

I remember many years ago I worried about having insomnia. It was very frustrating initially as I didn’t feel like I was getting enough sleep. Eventually, I just decided just stop worrying about it and amazingly enough it seems the insomnia went away. It is pretty amazing that sometimes what we hold in our head as a belief can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. In my case, my thinking that I wasn’t sleeping well became a central focus and as a result I thought about it so much that I ended up not sleeping well.

There are a lot of things that can become self-fulfilling prophecies. That’s why it’s important not to focus on the negative. For instance, if a problem comes along, don’t ask yourself this question, “Why does this always happen to me?” I think we’d both be surprised and how much that simple question can lead to a decrease in the quality of one’s life.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
