Another amazing week awaits us! I’m sure that you are ready for it!
In a past letter I was telling you about some troubleshooting I was doing to get a machine back to working properly. Well, as it turned out, what looked like something that was insignificant turned out to be vitally important.
Unfortunately, I unknowingly destroyed the vitally important part of the machine! I had made a huge mistake and the cost of that mistake was the purchase price of a new machine.
Needless to say, I was not thrilled at the prospect of shelling out the cash for a new machine, but I didn’t see any other alternative.
The reality is that in life mistakes happen and I’d have to say that they are all pretty disappointing. Since not one single one of us is perfect, we will all, at some point in time or another, make mistakes.
Own it: One of the best and most essential things you can do is to own the mistake. What I mean by that is that you take full responsibility for your actions. Once you do that, you have done something very important; you have become accountable.
When we are courageous enough to be accountable and openly admit our mistakes, we are then in an excellent position to use that mistake as a learning experience. Learning from your mistakes is how real-life progress is made. People who are not accountable and who don’t own up to their mistakes will have a more difficult time learning from their mistakes.
