My Letters To My Son

How Are You Today Son

How Are You Today Son,

How’s the weather there? I know that it’s been changing a lot here. I continually hear about changing weather patterns around the world. This year was pretty strange for us. It seems that we went straight from winter to summer. Our fall season feels more like spring, so I have no idea what to expect during the winter, except I’m certain it will be colder.

Do you participate in any of the winter activities available in your area? Have you ever been skiing before? I have to tell you about the first time I ever went skiing. It was both exciting and frightening at the same time. I can guarantee you that you won’t be able to stop laughing! For now, let’s just say that I wasn’t an expert skier right off the bat.

One of the strangest things about skiing that I discovered, at least where I went skiing, was that the benches on the ski lifts didn’t have seat belts. If you are a seasoned skier, maybe that sounds ridiculous to you, but this is something I simply did not know. The reason I thought they should have seat belts is that at times you’re pretty high up off the ground. I’ve heard that some of the ski lift chairs have safety bars, but there were none on the ski lift chairs that I saw.

Okay, I’m going to sign off soon, but another thing I did know about ski lifts is that the ski lift doesn’t stop so that you can get in the lift chair. That’s right! It just constantly moves and you basically have to time it just right and jump into the chair. I also didn’t know that the ski lift wouldn’t stop when I got to the top of the mountain. I nervously watched as I saw the people in front of me having to jump out of their chair and ski down a small slope. I asked the person next to me, “Do we really have to jump out of the chair?” Needless to say, when I jumped out it wasn’t pretty.

I’m pretty sure you’ll be much more graceful than your dear old dad when you go skiing!

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
