Howdy Son,
Wow! What a great weekend! I hope that yours was great too!
Let’s pick up where we left off last week when we were discussing the quote attributed to John Wayne:
“Never apologize, mister, it’s a sign of weakness.” – John Wayne
Let’s also revisit the definition of the word, “apology”. Merriam-Webster defines apology as, “an admission of error or discourtesy accompanied by an expression of regret.”
So, to apologize is to admit an error and to express regret. If you do something or say something that is wrong or hurtful and expression of regret seems to make sense. That sounds pretty straightforward to me.
Unfortunately, there are those people who will never apologize regardless of how wrong they are. Some people won’t apologize because they are unwilling to admit that there are wrong. Have you ever run across people who seem to consistently get mad when you disagree with them? They still get mad or irritated even after being shown proof that their point of view was incorrect.
People who can’t admit they are wrong are basically saying that they are infallible, which, of course, complete nonsense! There is no such thing as an infallible human being.
Let’s continue this discussion next week.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
