I hope that you had a wonderful weekend.
Unfortunately, my weekend was not so wonderful. Your Grandmother passed yesterday. I’m sorry for whatever caused you to not reach out to her. I’m sorry that you missed out on the opportunity to know the kindest, most trustworthy, honest, and generous person I have ever known.
I feel very blessed to have had your Grandmother in my life for 66 years. It was an honor and privilege to be loved by her and to be her primary caregiver for over 10 years.
While there is, of course, sadness in my heart, there is also a great sense of peace. There is the peace of knowing that God put me here with my Mom in her time of greatest need. There is peace in being of service to Mom so that she could enjoy her life as much as possible. There is peace in obeying God’s fifth commandment, “Honor they father and mother”. There is peace in knowing that your Grandmother is now with God in Heaven. I feel a sense of peace about so many things that I think I could spend all day listing them here!
I will certainly miss my Mother, and again, I’m very sorry that you didn’t get to know her. I can say with all certainty that your life would be better had you gotten to know her….I know mine has.
