My Letters To My Son

Good Morning Son

February 23, 2026 By Dad

Good Morning Son,

How’s it going there today? Are you ready to make this week count?

In a previous letter we were speaking about relationships. I was speaking about how wonderful my sweetheart is, and we were beginning to speak of relationships in general.

I know that when I was talking about choosing those we associate with carefully. Some may view this as being judgmental….and they would be right. Merriam-Webster defines judgment as, “the act or process of forming an opinion or evaluation by discerning and comparing.”

You see judgment and being judgmental can be considered negative, but they don’t have to be. After all, we make judgments every day whether we want to admit it or not. We decide to stop at red lights because that is the safest option. We evaluate whether or not to befriend someone based on our own judgment.

The process of evaluation continues in relationships. Sometimes we can meet someone and decide that we would like to hang out with them. This happens all the time. As an example, I met a guy that frequented one of my favorite places to shop. At that stage he was an acquaintance. Unfortunately, he used profanity way too much for my liking, so he and I never became friends.

On the flip side of that type of encounter, was meeting my sweetheart. When we met she checked all the boxes. There were actually times that I felt we had too much in common….if that’s even possible. Years later, I can’t help but feel blessed to share my life with her.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
