Great Morning Son,
I just wanted to send you a quick note to say hello and to let you know that I love you and that you are always on my mind.
I hope that you are having a great day. I also hope that you are surrounding yourself with people who build you up rather than tear you down. Typically, those who would seek to tear us down are looking to elevate themselves.
People seeking to elevate themselves by tearing you down may seem bold and strong initially. In reality, they lack self-confidence and most likely suffer from poor self-esteem.
Fortunately, there are roughly 8 billion people on Earth! That means that we truly have choices when it comes to who we associate with. In turn, it also means that we don’t have to tolerate nonsense (lies, deceit, etc.) from anyone.
Now I know some might ask, “What about the Golden Rule?”. Treating others with respect is definitely the right thing to do. We can, however, treat others with respect without tolerating their negative behavior.
Something else to consider is that no man is an island. In other words, in this case, tolerating a person with negative behavior is likely to influence others you care about. Why bring negativity into their lives when you can just choose to associate with positive people?
