My Letters To My Son

Great Morning Son

November 27, 2023 By Dad

Great Morning Son,

I’ll bet that you had a great weekend and that you are super ready for the week ahead!

I know that Christmas is just around the corner, so let me know if you’d like for me to get something special for you for Christmas.

My sweetheart and I aren’t really going all out as far as Christmas gift giving is concerned. There are certain people that we will give some simple gifts too, nothing extravagant. We decided to scale back, not for economic reasons, but because there was an emerging pattern with regards to gift giving.

The emerging pattern was that some people that we gave gifts to did not reciprocate. During Christmastime, traditionally, gifts are exchanged. It is understood by basically everyone with a pulse that gifts are to be exchanged during Christmastime. Unfortunately, there are those who are thrilled to receive gifts, but are very sporadic in giving gifts. This year, we decided not to reward the behavior of not being considerate enough to give a gift in return.

Now might say that someone who would not reciprocate in gift giving may be having a super-tough time financially. While that may be true, I believe that everyone, and I mean everyone, has something to give, even if it’s handmade. Heck, even a four-year-old kid can make something out of clay to give to mommy! So, if a four-year-old kid without a job can give mommy a gift, then it would not be a stretch of the imagination that someone with a job could give a gift.

A very important point that some people fail to remember is that generosity is not a function of the size of your wallet, it is a function of the size of your heart!

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
