My Letters To My Son

Great Morning Son

August 18, 2025 By Dad

Great Morning Son,

How is it going there today? I hope that you had a great weekend.

Things are groovy here. Lots going on this week and I guess that has become the norm.

I like to accomplish a lot during my week, but I certainly don’t like the feeling of being overwhelmed. Do you ever feel overwhelmed?

I could blame my feeling of overwhelm on something external, but what good would it do? After all, I choose the goals and the tasks within the goals. Sometimes we just bite off more than we can chew at the time. Has this ever happened to you?

For me, procrastination is a challenge. Even the smallest level of procrastination can really create a backlog of things to do. I’m still working on minimizing my level of procrastination, so that’s a work in progress.

If we stop and think about it, it’s very logical right? Those things that we put off doing simply stack up. The tricky thing is that we lose a lot of momentum when we procrastinate. If we abandon Task 1 because we run into something that makes completing it difficult, we may move on to Task 2, Task 3, etc. By the time we move to Task 10 without completing Task 1, we have lost the valuable momentum we initially created in Task 1.

When we lose momentum, we may essentially have to start over relearning those skills we had to learn to complete Task 1. That’s a lot of wasted time and effort. In short, it’s just plain inefficient.

For me, even though I’m so much better at not procrastinating, I still do it from time to time.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
