Happy Magnificent Monday Son,
How was your weekend? I hope that it was wonderful and that you are ready to dive into another amazing week!
Today I wanted to further our discussion about the following quote:
“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” – Suzy Kassem
We were discussing doubt and the fear of failure. Would you agree that doubt is a product of our fear of failure? I ask, because if we think about it, how much doubt would we have in our abilities to accomplish our goals if we never failed?
If we never failed, we would have no reason to doubt, right? That makes a lot of sense since, as they say, “success breeds success.” You have probably heard the saying, “What would you do today if you knew you could not fail”? The answer for many of us would be, “anything we want!”
I think we can agree that doubt enters the picture because of fear of failure. That fear can take many forms; fear of being judged, fear of not feeling like you are enough, fear of letting others down, etc.
Doubt enters our minds in other ways as well. For instance, today is a day that I will go for a run. Do I always look forward to it? Absolutely not. Do I do it anyway? Absolutely. I would imagine that even though exercise is good for us many people don’t do it because they fear it will hurt. They may also fear failure if they have tried to maintain a fitness routine, but have started and stopped numerous times. That is completely understandable and those doubts have derailed many good intentions.
Along with fitness we can add the doubts that may enter someone’s mind when they are considering eating healthier. Some might include:
If I eat less, will I feel hungry?
What if healthy food doesn’t taste good?
Etc.
Let’s continue discussing this topic at a later date.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
