Happy Magnificent Monday Son,
How are things going there today? As always, I know I’ll sound like a broken record, but I hope that your day is going well and that you are ready for an amazing week ahead!
And one of my letters, I mentioned that quote by Bill Bullard. Here is the quote is below:
“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge… is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.” – Bill Bullard
We also covered the definition of the word “opinion” courtesy of Merriam-Webster:
Opinion: “a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter”
“belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge”
So now, let’s look at the definition of the word “fact” courtesy of Merriam-Webster:
Fact: “something that has actual existence”
“an actual occurrence”
“a piece of information presented as having objective reality”
The distinction between a fact and an opinion is vitally important. Opinions are easily formed, and anyone can have an opinion about anything regardless of how sensible or ridiculous the information may be.
An example of an opinion is that the 2020 presidential election was stolen in the United States. There are many people in the United States that still believe that the 2020 election was stolen by the Democratic Party. This widely-held opinion seems to have been the result of people who lied about the election being stolen. This basically planted seeds of doubt in the minds of many Americans.
Many supporters of the belief that the 2020 election was stolen simply started to believe this lie as if it were fact. The interesting thing is people wanted to believe it because they wanted their chosen candidate to win the election. We must remember that whenever someone makes an accusation the burden of proof is on the accuser. Those who lied about the 2020 election being stolen never produced any evidence to support their claims.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
