I have another interesting quote that I’d like to share with you:
“Life is not fair. Get used to it.” – Bill Gates
What do you think of that quote? At first it might sound harsh to some folks. The fact is, there are many truths that sound harsh when you first hear them.
Now although we would all like life to be fair, it is not. Facing that fact early on will serve us all well. Why? Because our beliefs form our expectation levels. If I truly believe that life is fair, then whenever I encountered an unfair situation, I would be terribly disappointed.
Understanding that life is not fair, nor does it have to be, temper’s our expectations. That doesn’t mean that we should always expect the worst. It means that sometimes:
- The laziest person in our office gets promoted over us.
- That people we trust and think we know lie to us.
- There are those who will judge us by our external appearance rather than our readiness to accomplish the task at hand.
- ….and the list goes on and on and on.
While some of this may sound bleak, it does need to be. In life, the truth is not a prison, the truth is freedom. You see, the fact is that life doesn’t have to be fair to be amazing!
Making life amazing is a choice, just like happiness. It’s up to each of us to make our lives amazing.
No matter what challenges life throws at you, decide to overcome them and not only survive, but thrive!
