How was your birthday? Your birthday came to mind as I remember calling to wish you a Happy Birthday. I spoke with your mom for a bit, but ultimately, I didn’t get a chance to chat with you. I also told your mom that I would call back and leave you a birthday message on voicemail, which I did.
I’m sorry if you don’t get my messages, but I don’t have any control over such things. Your mom tells me that she will give you the message. I can only make the effort to contact you through your mom as I don’t have a way to contact you directly. In all honesty, I can’t say whether you get some of my messages, all of my messages, or none of my messages. I do remember the last time we spoke on the phone, you seemed upset because you didn’t think that I had been trying to stay in touch with you. You became silent when I informed you that I called to talk to you every Saturday. That was a clear indication that you had not been receiving my messages. That’s just sad!
Some might think it’s silly to continue to put forth the time and effort to be a positive part of your life and still get no response. Personally, I don’t feel silly because other people’s opinions of the right thing to do will never overshadow the importance of doing the right thing. In fact, doing the right thing regardless of the circumstances is the foundation of being a person of integrity.
