The week is already off to a groovy start! By the way, if you use the word “groovy”, people might think that you are older than you are.
Do you happen to follow politics? I was just curious as I find politics interesting, amusing, and often times disappointing. Is it just me or does it seem as if some politicians have difficulty keeping their campaign promises? In short, what they are doing is lying.
The challenge we all have as citizens is wading through the nonsense to get the facts. Often times, it doesn’t seem that politicians are telling us the truth. Why do you think that is? There are a lot of schools of thought on that, I’m sure. As I see it, they are not acting much differently than the people they represent as studies have shown that the majority of people lie.
There are other interesting statistics about lying. Here are a few:
A university study found that 60% of people can’t go 10 minutes without telling a lie.
Another study estimates that the average American tells 11 lies a week.
For 70% of liars, lying again is something they are willing to do.
With those kinds of statistics, it would appear that politicians who lie really do have something in common with those they represent….lying! Some may say that when we vote for someone who is untruthful we get the politician we deserve. Of course, interestingly enough, even though most people lie, those who lie have the nerve to get upset when they are lied to. Talk about hypocrisy!
