My Letters To My Son

Dad

How Are You Today Son

March 14, 2022 By Dad

How Are You Today Son,

It’s early in the morning here and it’s already feeling like an amazing day!

The statement above is one I want to not only believe in every morning, but also to make sure that statement comes true. I believe this may be referred to as a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If claiming that it’s going to be an amazing day leads to you having an amazing day, why wouldn’t you say to yourself, “It’s going to be an amazing day” or alternatively, “This is an amazing day”? If statements such as those lead to an amazing day, it would make sense to do that every day, right?

Not surprisingly, the reverse can also be true. Claiming that it is going to be dull, boring, or awful day can be a self-fulfilling prophecy as well. This is understandable. There may be a list of things to be done that we just don’t want to do. Some people have bosses that are tyrants that seem to want everyone to share in their personal misery. There are many reasons that any of us could anticipate the day being a, “bad” day.

Here’s a quote by Henry Ford that is appropriate for this discussion:

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right” – Henry Ford

So, if you think you are going to have an amazing day, or you think you are going to have a lousy day, you are right. Ultimately, the choice is yours. For me, my choice is to have an amazing day and I hope that your choice is the same!

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
