My Letters To My Son

Dad

Happy Monday Son

June 1, 2020 By Dad Leave a Comment

Good morning to you! Well, it’s already been a great start to what is to be a great week ahead!

Wanted to share with you another quote that I found to be very interesting. Here it is:

“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge… is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.” – Bill Bullard

I certainly found the quote interesting, but what do you think?

On the surface, it speaks to the fact that an opinion is something that anyone can possess on any topic. Opinions are very common because it allows everyone to participate in a conversation and to share/showcase their knowledge or lack of it.

The tricky part about opinions, though, is that sometimes those giving opinions, mistake their opinion for actual knowledge. I also find it interesting that people will fight for the right to have their opinion accepted by others, even though they are far from being an expert in that particular field.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had plenty of opinions based upon, like most opinions, incomplete or completely inaccurate information. After a time of listening to people’s ill-informed opinions and thinking to myself, “that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard”, I was fortunate enough to realize that I was doing the exact same thing.

Let’s pick up on this topic at a later date.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
