My Letters To My Son

Dad

Hi Son

July 17, 2017 By Dad Leave a Comment

Hi Son,

How are things with you on this fine day? I hope that all is well and that you are excited about life.

Well, the heat is on here for the summer! Fortunately, I’m used to it now and a 100-degree day is just another day to me. Even though I say that, I don’t take such temperatures lightly. It is so easy to get dehydrated and that can be very dangerous.

I remember back in 2012 I decided to go for a run on one of my favorite trails. It was a lot tougher than I thought. I didn’t have a set distance in mind, but once I started running, I decided that I would run 8 miles that day.

As it turns out, that wasn’t the smartest decision, as I hadn’t been on an 8 mile run in over 10 years. I’ll fill you in on all the details when we chat face to face, but let’s just say that the results were less than spectacular. In the end, I only ran 4.5 miles and then slowly walked 4.5 miles back to the car.

My run was pretty miserable because I hadn’t properly prepared myself and certainly wasn’t properly hydrated. As it turns out, the high temperature during my run that day was 108 degrees, one of the top ten hottest days on record for the area!

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
