My Letters To My Son

Dad

How Are You Today Son

June 2, 2025 By Dad

How Are You Today Son,

What’s new with you on this fine day? I trust the day is going well and that you are looking forward to an amazing week! I am definitely ready for the week ahead.

I am experimenting with eliminating caffeine from my diet. It’s not that I don’t like coffee. I love coffee in the mornings. I grind my own beans and use the pour-over method to make some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted.

I decided to give my coffee consumption a rest to see if it has a positive effect on my sleep. Also, I periodically challenge myself by adding or eliminating things in my daily routine. For instance, I’ve added 2 days of running because I didn’t think I was getting enough cardio.

So you may wonder why I challenge myself from time to time. Well, I like to find out what has the greater level of control, me, or something else. That something else could be food, caffeine, alcohol, etc.

So why challenge yourself? Well, one reason is that every life, no matter how perfect it is at the time, will have challenges. Of course, we would all like to avoid the storms that present themselves in our lives, but storms will come, whether we like it or not. Personally, I believe that learning to meet challenges head on builds a solid foundation for dealing with future challenges. This builds resilience. One definition of resilience is:
“the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.”

For me, I know that God is with me through all my challenges. That in and of itself strengthens my resolve to meet and overcome any and all challenges/storms that may come.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
