Bonjour Son,
I hope that you had another great weekend like I did. Did you do or learn anything interesting? I certainly hope so.
I was going to go on my usual walk by the river this weekend, but decided to do something a bit different. I decided to “do steps”. I went to a park that has steps that go from the parking lot to another part of the park that is on top of a huge hill. There are over 200 steps from the bottom to the top.
In general, steps are a great place to work out because when you go up the steps you have to work against gravity. Basically, you are lifting your entire body weight the height of each step with each step you take. Walking or running up steps burns a lot more calories than just walking or running on a flat surface.
For some reason, I had a tough time getting started walking up the steps this time. My legs started hurting almost immediately. As I continued I wondered if I would be able to complete my workout. I have no idea why my step workout was so difficult on that day. In fact, it was tough for me from start to finish. Fortunately, I just kept going and eventually finished my workout.
Sometimes the things we must do to reach a goal are tough from the start. Sometimes things don’t get any easier along the way. Sometimes it seems easier to just give up. Unfortunately, giving up is what many people do when things become challenging. Many people give up right when their goal can be reached with just a tiny bit more effort. The key is to keep moving forward regardless of the pressures, challenges, or obstacles in your way. If you keep moving forward, we will eventually reach our goal. If you keep moving forward, there is nothing that you cannot achieve.
Well, that’s it for now.
Have an amazing day!
Love,
Dad
P.S. Thank you for being a wonderful son!
