My Letters To My Son

Dad

Happy Monday Son

January 27, 2025 By Dad

Happy Monday Son,

What’s new in your world on this marvelous day? As usual, I hope that all is great and that you are anticipating an amazing week ahead.

I have another cool quote that I’d like to share with you:

“He who conquers others is strong; he who conquers himself is mighty.” – Lao Tzu

What do you think of that quote? Do you like it?

That quote is very powerful. It speaks to the art of self-control/self-mastery.

You see, many of us go through life believing that controlling others makes us more powerful or more worthy. Often times, we may want to control others because we have not experienced much control in our own lives. Is it really logical to believe that we can control others if we can’t control ourselves? It doesn’t seem so does it?

I would venture to say that we should focus on improving ourselves to create the best version of ourselves. Improving ourselves is sometimes no easy undertaking. Why? I would say that one reason is that self-improvement requires discipline.

Merriam-Webster defines discipline as:

“an orderly or prescribed conduct or pattern of behavior”
“self-control”
“training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character”

Let’s pause this conversation for now and pick this important topic up at a later date.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
