My Letters To My Son

Dad

Hello Son

November 18, 2024 By Dad

Hello Son,

Another great day and a great week ahead awaits us! Are we blessed or what?

I remember in a previous chat we were talking about “sharpening the saw.” This week will be one of those types of weeks for me. This will mostly be in the form of getting an increased level of organization for a number of projects that I’m working on.

You’ve probably heard me talk about working on this project or that project for the better part of your life. I’ve been asked so many times when I would retire and I would typically laugh and ask, “why should I retire?.” I do understand why people ask that question, because it would appear that that is most people’s goal after working their entire lives.

My personal belief is that as long as you can be productive and contribute, you should do so. Now that doesn’t mean that you have to work tirelessly in what might have been your chosen profession for the bulk of your career. You could go from working for a company, retiring from that company, and then starting your own business or even a nonprofit organization if that’s what suits you.

Perhaps if I lived in a perfect world I would not feel so compelled to stay productive and contribute. It is obvious, however, that we don’t live in a perfect world and that we all have something to contribute no matter which stage of life we happen to be in.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
