My Letters To My Son

Dad

Hi Son

July 8, 2024 By Dad

Hi Son,

Well, it’s not exactly what one might call a beautiful day here. It’s overcast and currently drizzling rain. Actually, I shouldn’t say that it’s not a beautiful day, because, in reality, the sun is always shing far above the clouds. How’s the weather there?

Personally, I prefer sunny days because things just look brighter and more hopeful. Also, I enjoy outdoor activities more when it’s a sunny day. I have, however, completely ignored the weather and went on hikes everyday whether it was raining, sunshiny, snowing, sleeting, etc.

When I think about people and outdoor activities, it makes me think of life’s scenarios. I’ve asked many people over the years to join me in any number of activities. I always found it interesting how many excuses that people could come up with for not going walking, running, biking, etc.

I do understand why some people made excuses for not joining me for runs, walks, or bike rides. One reason I found out after asking some of my friends why they wouldn’t join me is that they claimed that I was a naturally disciplined person and athletic person and that they didn’t possess the same level of discipline. I do not believe I am a naturally disciplined person. After all, discipline is like a muscle, it must be exercised to become stronger.

There is a particular quote that has stayed with me since I first heard it. “You can make progress, or you can make excuses, but you can’t do both”

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
