My Letters To My Son

How Are You Today Son

August 15, 2022 By Dad

How Are You Today Son,

We had another hot weekend here. Either we have a flood advisory or a heat advisory pretty much every day. What’s happening with the weather there?

What are you looking forward to most this week? There were so many years when I would have answered that question much differently than I do now. My answer used to be that what I am looking forward to the most this week is the end of this week!

I, of course, still look forward to having a great weekend, but isn’t it also important to look forward to every day? That doesn’t mean that there won’t be days when you have challenges. Is it better to fear the challenges or to look forward to claiming victory over the challenges?

I have a simple philosophy, “Love the day, and the day will love you”. Yes, I know that it’s simplistic and as many would say, “easier said than done”. If we pause for a moment and think about it, what isn’t easier said than done? Not to go off on a tangent here, but most things are easier to say than to do. Either you seize the day, or the day will seize you!

My official favorite day of the week besides Sunday, the Lord’s Day, is Monday. When I’ve shared that info with people some would say I needed to have my head examined. It’s logical that some would dread Monday because it’s the end of the weekend, but wouldn’t it make sense to embrace all 7 days of the week?

I chose Monday to be my second favorite of the 7 days of the week for a number of reasons. One simple reason I chose Monday is that I noticed that most people dreaded Mondays and personally, I didn’t want to dread anything. Another reason I chose Monday is that the first day of the week sets the tone for the rest of the week. Doesn’t it make sense that if you make Monday great, that you have a better chance of making your entire week great?

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
