Top Of The Morning To You Son

Top Of The Morning To You Son,

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day here. How are things there?

When I look out of the window all I see is a beautiful blue sky and all the green that the weather has produced. I still haven’t been on a bike ride this year and I can hardly wait.

Haters:

This is a topic that I wanted to chat with you about. One of the reasons for that is that, is that for me, this Spring seems to be the season of “hateration”.

For whatever reason, I’ve had some people get all up in my face in the most aggressive and disrespectful manner. Naturally, I reflected on what I might have done to make them so mad. I tried to listen to them through their screaming and profanity, but I have to admit that it wasn’t easy.

I think what made listening so challenging was the human tendency to become defensive when attacked. Fortunately, I was blessed with a beautifully calming peace as I listened to them express their anger.

As my haters were raising their voices at me, I noticed that they were attempting to list everything negative that they thought that I did. They never, not once, took responsibility for any of their own actions.

My haters were angry and their anger was directed at me. There’s something interesting about anger. Anger is a way for a person to get certainty in their uncertain life.

After a period of reflection, I realized that my haters indeed had uncertain lives and that I was a convenient dumping ground for their discontent and uneasy feelings about themselves.

As it turns out, I forgave them and decided to see what I could do to be more supportive. After all, it doesn’t really make sense to let haters turn us into haters too.
When it comes to haters, we must remember something very important…, haters are the ones who are hurting inside, not you.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
