My Letters To My Son

Letters

Hello Son

May 23, 2016 By Dad Leave a Comment

Hello Son,

I hope that you’re having a super-groovy day and that all is well with you.

I ran across a very interesting quote that I thought I would share with you.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
– Confucius

The quote above made me think of all the times in my life that I spent comparing the progress I made with the progress of other people. There were times where I became very discouraged by the progress I was making in comparison to the progress I saw other people making.

I finally came to the realization that the reality of life is that there will always be people who are smarter, richer, better looking, etc., than I am. I believe that comparing yourself to other people can be constructive in some ways, as a competitive spirit can definitely be an asset. Sometimes there is a fine line between maintaining a competitive spirit and doing damage to your own self-confidence and self-esteem.

The quote by Confucius made me think of how important it is to move forward, even when you don’t think you are moving forward rapidly enough. Every step you take, no matter how small, puts you one step closer to your goals.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day!

Love,

Dad
