My Letters To My Son

Letters

Good Morning Son

February 1, 2016 By Dad Leave a Comment

Good Morning Son,

It was another great week and another great weekend here. How was your week and weekend? I hope that they were both wonderful.

I was thinking about the quote that I recently sent you by Martin Luther King, Jr.:
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”
– Martin Luther King, Jr.

The quote made me think of the current state of the world today. If you look at many of the recent news headlines, it may seem that the world is under attack by evil people who only seek to wreak havoc, destroy lives, and create chaos.

Perhaps destroying things gives evil people a sense of power, but in reality anyone can destroy things. After all, any idiot can light a match and destroy a forest. That is not a demonstration of power, it is a demonstration of the cowardice and ignorance of those misguided enough to perpetrate such acts.

I am mentioning these things to you to tell you to not be fearful of the chaos and destruction you may see on the news. That is not to say that you should not be aware of or concerned about what is going on in the world. You should absolutely be aware and mindful of what is going on, but never fearful. Remember that, “a life lived in fear, is a life not really lived at all”.

I believe as Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.”

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day!

Love,

Dad
