My Letters To My Son

Letters

Howdy Son

September 21, 2015 By Dad Leave a Comment

Howdy Son,

I hope that this letter finds you in good health and spirits.

It has been a busy day here. How is your day going? Do you have any special plans for the upcoming week?

I wanted to tell you about something strange that I saw one afternoon when I was driving home. I had just turned on to the on ramp to get onto the highway when I noticed this SUV swerving back and forth in front of me and beeping its horn at the person in front of them. Apparently the person in front of them was not moving fast enough on the ramp and was driving down the center of the ramp. Perhaps the driver in the SUV thought that the truck in front of him was intentionally blocking him.

Believe it or not these two drivers became angry enough to drive next to each other and argue as they drove down the highway. I kept my distance from them as I had no idea what either of these men would do next.

We were approaching a point where the highway would split and we could go either north or south onto a connecting highway. The truck that was in front was in the left lane and heading south and the SUV was in the right lane heading north. Believe it or not, just as the lane started to split the man in the SUV actually threw something out of the driver side window and hit the truck! At this point, there is no way for the guy in the truck to get near the guy in the SUV as the highway split.

I suppose this was an example of how easily things can get out of hand when tempers flare. It is unfortunate that it escalated to that point. The interesting thing is that each of those men most likely believed that they were justified in their words and actions.

I could never figure out why the guy in the SUV became so angry. The truck that was driving in front of him was moving along and what I thought to be an adequate speed. In any event, the smart thing to do is to keep your distance from those types of situations. Anger can be the driving force behind many foolish and dangerous decisions.

Well, that’s it for now.

Have an amazing day!

Love,

Dad
