Hi Son,
Well, here we are at the start of another amazing week! I hope that you are as excited about this week as I am.
I wanted to share something interesting with you. The other day someone asked me a question along the lines of, “You really have an easy life don’t you?” The question struck me as a little bit odd, but I do understand where it comes from. Most likely it stems from the fact that most every time anyone sees me or speaks to me I am fortunate enough to be in a great mood. Some people must believe that if you are a happy person then you never have problems or issues.
The truth of the matter is that everyone has challenges. No matter how smart, happy, healthy, disciplined, or generous you are, there will be challenges in your life. How you view and approach these challenges determines whether the challenges will overcome you or you will overcome the challenges.
As an example of this, I had an extremely challenging day the other day. I started off with only one challenge. When my solution to that challenge didn’t work, I then found myself facing multiple challenges. I have to admit that I started to become a bit frustrated. I had to take a deep breath and decide that I would focus on one portion of the challenge, find a solution to that portion of the challenge, and then move on to the next portion of the challenge.
I had determined that no matter how slow my progress might be and no matter how long it might take, I was going to overcome these challenges.
In the end, I did overcome the challenges. One of the most important parts of overcoming the challenges was that I learned something from them. What I learned from the challenges could be stored in my mental toolbox to help me find solutions to these types of challenges and others in the future. The biggest surprise and take away from my experience was that I was fortunate enough to create solutions that were far more efficient and elegant than I could have possibly imagined. The more I experience in life, the more I see the truth in the old saying, “Every cloud has a silver lining”.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day!
Love,
Dad
