My Letters To My Son

How Are You Today Son

November 27, 2017 By Dad Leave a Comment

How Are You Today Son,

I certainly hope that you are having a beautiful day.

One of the most important life lessons I have learned could be titled, “You Aren’t Always Right”.

Quite naturally, it’s human nature for us to sometimes think that we have all the answers. The reality is that we don’t have all the answers and that no one person has all the answers.

If you happen to run across a person who always has to be right and always thinks that they are right, you should probably run, because that individual is clearly delusional. In fact, anyone that believes that they know everything is clearly delusional. The truth of the matter is that in the long run, a relationship with someone who does not have the ability to admit that they are wrong, is a relationship that is doomed to failure.

When you admit that you’re wrong, you open yourself up to doing something that is very admirable and that something is telling the truth to yourself and others. That may sound like an oversimplification, but it really isn’t. People make admitting that they’re wrong difficult because they resist because they feel it makes them look bad and often times would prefer to defend their position rather than admit that they’re wrong. Trying to defend an incorrect position is the same thing is trying to polish a turd… and why in the world would anyone want to polish a turd! I know that may sound crude, but it’s no cruder than not admitting you’re wrong and not telling the truth about it.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
