Howdy Son,
Well, I have to say, that was yet another amazing weekend! I hope that yours was amazing as well.
We were discussing what one should do after they failed. Today we will continue that discussion.
Let’s say, for instance, that you wanted to accomplish a certain task. Let’s call it Task A. So you go about the job of completing Task A, but you failed to complete the task. At this point, of course, anyone would feel disappointed. Basically, you set out to do something and didn’t do it.
There’s actually good news from this experience. The good news is that you have just discovered a way to not accomplish Task A. This type of discovery is a lesson and there is a lesson to be learned from each and every failure.
The lesson that’s learned here is that the next time you want to accomplish Task A, don’t try to accomplish it in the same way that caused you to fail.
If we take a look at a cancer research scientist, for instance, we might gain a better understanding of persisting when the goal is not reached immediately. Since, to my knowledge, there is no rock solid cure for cancer, I’m going to make the bold assumption that the cancer researchers around the world have not reached their goal. Yet, I am assuming that they go in every day and work towards getting a step closer to their goal. It is unlikely that any research scientist walks into the lab and sends everyone home after making the bold statement, “You guys can take the day off. I got this!”.
Getting back up after failure has knocked you down and working to move forward is one of the best disciplines that you can develop. Why is that? Because there will be times in your life when you simply don’t accomplish a task or reach a goal the very first time or several times you make an attempt.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
