Howdy Son,
Well, here we are at the start of another great week! As always, I hope that you had a wonderful weekend and that you did something that was productive as well as something that was fun.
I wanted to ask you if you ever heard of the phrase “failing forward”? The first time I heard this phrase I thought it sounded a bit foolish. After all, how could you fail and still move forward?
Here’s the real deal. In reality, we all want to avoid failing. Actually, we want to avoid feeling like we are a failure. Unfortunately, as a result of this there are times and we will do almost anything to avoid failing. As a result, often times we will find ourselves avoiding failure by not trying at all. That is not the way to go through life at all. Think of it this way, if you try something and you fail, at least the failure is evidence that you put forth the effort.
Failure can also serve as a teacher. I’m sure you’ve heard of the term, “learn from your mistakes”. If you try something and it doesn’t work, then at least you have eliminated one of the possibilities and you can go on to try something new.
I have to openly admit, that I have all too frequently allowed my own fear of failure to keep me from moving forward and making the progress that I wanted to make. Son, don’t let your fear failure keep you from moving forward. You will make mistakes, as all of us do. Keep pushing forward, learn from your mistakes and you will make the progress that you seek.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
