My Letters To My Son

Dad

Hi Son

November 13, 2023 By Dad

Hi Son,

I trust that you are already having an amazing day and looking forward to another amazing week ahead!

What’s new on your end? Here, I can tell you the weather’s been very strange. Imagine it being in the 80s at this time of year and then all of a sudden back down into the low 30s the very next day! Don’t get me wrong, when we have spring-like weather this time of year it is extremely enjoyable. What’s the weather like where you are?

Below is another great quote that I thought I would share with you:

“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”- Abraham Lincoln

I tell you what, that quote certainly rings true in my life and in fact, the lives of everyone. I think at some point in time we’ve all fallen prey to procrastination. After all, on the surface, isn’t it easier to put a task off rather than immediately perform that task?

Here’s another interesting quote:

“Procrastination is the thief of time.”- Edward Young

That quote certainly resonates with me. If we stop and think about it, every single time you put off doing a task, the task has to be revisited. What that means is that you have now placed yourself in the position of having to make another decision about that task. If there was something I’m supposed to do on Monday and I decide to put it off until Tuesday, then when Tuesday rolls around I decide to put it off till Wednesday, and then when Wednesday rolls around I decide to put it off until Thursday, etc.

Now some may wonder how time is stolen by putting something off. In our example above it’s quite plain to see that every single time you put something off you create the additional task of having to make a brand-new decision about when that task will be completed. The more frequently you put the task off, the more frequently you have to take time out of your day to make that decision.

There are many facets involved in procrastination. Procrastination robs us of our time, our confidence in our ability to get things done, and our progress.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
