My Letters To My Son

Dad

Buongiorno Son

April 19, 2021 By Dad

Buongiorno Son,

Well, welcome to yet another amazing day at the start of yet another amazing week!

How’s it going there today, do you have big plans for today or is it pretty much going to be what you consider a regular day?

How’s your health, that’s a question that’s on my mind a lot. I certainly hope that your health is well and that you are taking good care of yourself. I know that you’ll find that I talk about health a lot. As I may have said in previous letters, I’ve been described as, “preachy” when it comes to health. Merriam-Webster’s definition of the word “preachy” is: “marked by obvious moralizing”. Merriam-Webster’s definition of the word “moralizing” is: “to explain or interpret morally” or “to give a moral quality or direction to”.

The interesting thing is that when I speak to people about health, it was never meant to be a strictly “moral” conversation as if I was judging them. One of Merriam-Webster’s definition of the word “moral” is: “expressing or teaching a conception of right behavior”.

My objective was more in line with the above definition of moral. I simply wanted to point people in the right direction, but not from some high-and-mighty, stand-on-a-soapbox position. You see, as someone who has had health issues himself, I simply spoke from my own personal experiences. I was blessed and fortunate enough to be able to make lifestyle changes that greatly improved my health and thusly the quality of my life.

From my standpoint, to share something that can improve the lives of others just seems logical. I do, however, understand that for some people, health and fitness is a very sensitive issue. It may simply be that when I speak to people about these things in order to help them and be of service to them, they may feel guilty for not doing what deep in their hearts they know they should be doing.

Now, naturally I don’t know everything there is to know about health. One thing I do know about health, however, is that it is the foundation of the quality of your life. If we stop and think about it, this makes perfect sense. When you create an amazing foundation, you can build an amazing life!

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
