Howdy Son,
Well, here we are at the start of another great week!
Did you do anything interesting this past weekend? For the most part, my sweetheart and I simply enjoyed each other’s company. I also got some work done. It seems that on Saturdays I get a lot more than I thought I would. Maybe it’s because Saturdays have a more relaxed vibe, so I don’t feel pressured to rush.
If you remember, we were recently discussing the importance of good health. Personally, I don’t spend every waking moment focused on doing health-conscious things. Like most everyone else, I may end up eating something that I know is not healthy for me, simply because it tastes good. In fact, that’s not really a huge problem unless eating unhealthily becomes a habit.
This year, for whatever reason, I’ve found myself not only not eating enough of the right foods, but eating way too much of the wrong foods. Now I could blame it on my sisters or my sweetheart for shopping and bringing snacks home. Unfortunately, that would be a lame excuse. The real reason I found myself eating too much of the wrong foods was my personal lack of discipline. Here’s one of my favorite quotes that sums it up nicely.
“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.” – Stephen R. Covey
My circumstance would be being surrounded by unhealthy food. Naturally, it’s not the food’s fault that I eat it. It is the decision I made to do the unhealthy thing. I was exchanging short-term pleasure for long-term health. Isn’t it interesting how short-term actions can have such long-term consequences?
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
