My Letters To My Son

How Are You Today Son

How Are You Today Son,

As always, I hope that all is well with you and that you had a wonderful weekend.

A part of my weekend was pretty interesting. We had severe thunderstorms and they were so severe that they knocked the power out at the house. In fact, over 20,000 households lost power. The lights flickered on and off for about an hour and then they just stayed off.

Although I know this can be a time of panic for many people, for me it was actually a time of peace. Let me explain. When the power is out there is really not much in the house that you can do. I can’t work on the computer, for instance or do much of anything visual as there are no lights in the house.

When this type of thing does happen, I take advantage of the opportunity to do absolutely nothing. It’s like a forced mental vacation of sorts. I’ll typically light a few candles in simply chill out.

The downside to having the power out, of course are pretty obvious. If the power stays off too long, then all the food in your refrigerator and in your freezer will spoil and go to waste. In addition, when it’s hot like it is here now, the temperature in the house can be so high that it isn’t comfortable to sleep in. For me, personally, I slept like a baby!

Isn’t it interesting how something that some may find as a terrible inconvenience and even a cause for panic for some can be the source of peace and tranquility for others. I suppose it’s as they say, that things happen in life, some of which are beyond our control. How we internalize and interpret those things that happen in life is what creates our reality.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
