My Letters To My Son

Letters

Hello Son

May 20, 2024 By Dad

Hello Son,

Here we are again after another great weekend with another wonderful week ahead awaiting us!

I was reflecting upon the state of the world today After seeing how a number of people voiced their opinions of what they believe to be happening in the world today. I decided to watch a bit of news and saw some people voicing opinions that were reasonable and others who voiced opinions that didn’t seem to make any sense whatsoever.

I wanted to explore this a bit further, so I looked up the definition of opinion. According to Merriam-Webster:

Opinion: “a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter”
“belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge”

In addition, here’s an interesting quote I found by Bill Bullard:

“Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge… is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding.” – Bill Bullard

What do you think of Mr. Bullard’s quote? Personally, I tend to agree with his statement about opinion being the lowest form of knowledge. Why? Firstly, for Mr. Bullard’s reason of, “It requires no accountability, no understanding.” Doesn’t that ring true?

Let’s pick this topic up in the future as it is definitely worthy of further discussion.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
