My Letters To My Son

Letters

Good Morning Son

May 13, 2024 By Dad

Good Morning Son,

How are things on this fine day? I certainly hope that things are going well and that you are making progress throughout the day regardless of the challenges that you may face. I also hope that your weekend was excellent and that you got some rest and relaxation and recharged your batteries, so you’ll be ready for the week ahead!

This has already been an excellent day. It actually started off with me eating a frog! What? Let me explain what I mean by that. Brian Tracy wrote a book called, “Eat That Frog”. The book itself is about tackling your most important tasks at the beginning of your day to avoid procrastinating on them.

For many people, the most challenging task of the day is the one that they will most likely put off. The problem with that is that it’s so easy to replace important tasks with tasks just to keep busy. We all know, of course, that busy work isn’t necessarily productive work.

As I see it, the concept of tackling the most difficult tasks extends beyond the work that we do. If we stop and think about it, our relationships are especially important. Sometimes, maintaining a healthy relationship means sitting down and talking about topics that are not so easily discussed. For instance, if you happen to have a friend that has a gambling problem, you definitely want to help them. When I say gambling problem, I’m talking about something that is a real problem where someone is gambling with money that they can certainly not afford to lose and borrowing money to gamble more and negatively affecting all those around them.

If we happen to have a friend that we care about and they have a gambling problem, then our caring sometimes can show through as some tough love. Tough love involves sitting down and seriously discussing what the issues are regardless of how difficult they are to talk about. It may also involve getting our friend some professional help.

Sometimes, we must have those tough love discussions with ourselves. We may evaluate our lives and pause to see what types of things we should be doing that we aren’t doing or that we are doing that we shouldn’t be doing. This type of reflection helps us keep life in balance…. And that is in balance is more likely to be a happy life.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
