How are things there?
I hope that you had a great birthday. I called to wish you a happy birthday, but the message said that the number was no longer in service. After that I called your great uncle and had a nice chat with him. He was nice enough to ask me how I was doing, and I really appreciated that. I asked him to wish you a happy birthday for me, and he said he would tell your mother. That seemed a bit odd to me as I figured it would be just as easy for him to relay the message directly to you. Oh well, I don’t claim to understand every family’s dynamic, so we’ll just leave it at that. As we both know from the past, you haven’t always received the messages I’ve left for you. The most important thing is that I did reach out to wish you a happy birthday on each and every birthday.
The year sure seems to be flying by fast and Christmas is right around the corner. Of course, I’ll call you to wish you Merry Christmas as I have every year that we’ve been apart.
