Happy Monday Son,
Well, I’m grateful that we are here at the start of another amazing week. Aren’t you?
It’s a simple fact that gratitude multiplies our happiness.
What are you grateful for? I know that is the type of question that’s easy to gloss over. It’s easy to ignore what we are grateful for when we are more focused on:
1 – Who we are not, rather than who we are
2 – What we don’t have, rather than what we do have
It seems that negative emotions are often associated with who we are not and what we don’t have. These negative emotions move to the front of our minds and often times they will overshadow our positive emotions. Maybe it’s because we view these types of things as problems to be solved and we want to find a solution to the problems.
All this brought to mind how I used to feel about my exercise routine. I used to dread it because my workouts are typically quite challenging. After dreading my workouts for some time, I realized that I was making the task unnecessarily difficult by painting it in such a negative light.
I completely missed the fact that I was so incredibly fortunate to have the strength and discipline to be able to complete my workouts. I took for granted that many people who were not physically or emotionally able would love to be able to workout. So now, I am grateful for the fact that I am able to workout. I am grateful for the strength, discipline, and emotional well-being it gives me in addition to an overwhelming feeling of confidence. As a bonus for changing to an attitude of gratitude regarding my workouts, I now also enjoy them!
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
