My Letters To My Son

Letters

Good Morning Son

February 10, 2025 By Dad

Good Morning Son,

How’s it going there today? I hope that all is well and that you’ve had a great weekend.

Here’s another excellent quote I’d like to share with you:

“Constant dripping hollows out a stone” – Ovid

Ovid was a Roman poet.

What do you think of the quote? It’s one of my favorites. It emphasizes the importance of persistence. One drop of water will not hollow out a stone, at least not in a way that its impact could be seen with the naked eye. Constant dripping, however, given enough time, could conceivably hollow out any stone.

The key concept here is that of persistence. While we could easily think that water is not hard enough to make even the smallest of dents in a stone, persistent dripping can make that possible.

Sometimes we look at some of life’s challenges and may even believe they are impossible to overcome. We may even look at what we consider to be lofty and unrealistic goals to be unachievable. It is often not the force that we exert that overcomes challenges, but the consistency of action with which we approach them.

There simply is no substitute for persistence. It is through persistent effort that the impossible becomes possible.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
