Howdy Son,
I hope that your week is off to an amazing start with today starting off to be an amazing day!
Well, as you could have guessed, I found another interesting quote that I wanted to share with you. This particular quote is by Plato:
“You should not honor men more than truth.” ― Plato
That’s a very simple, straightforward quote right? Just as in many things in life, its beauty lies in its simplicity.
What do you think of the quote? Do you believe it’s true that we should not honor men more than truth? If you asked me that question, I would certainly tell you, ”Absolutely!”.
You may ask why I so strongly agree with the quote. Well, let’s take a look at that for a moment. Let’s say that I have a friend or acquaintance that asked me to tell a lie for them. What do you think I would say when they asked me to do that? If you said I would refuse, you would be 100% correct.
So, you may ask why would I refuse to lie for a friend? Well, one simple reason is because lying is wrong, and as I stated before, all liars are cowards. With that in mind, I don’t want to intentionally do something that is wrong, and I don’t want to be a coward. Now you may ask, is my friend being a coward by asking me to lie for him? The answer is, of course!
Some may say, “if you don’t do that small favor of lying for your friend, he may decide to not be your friend anymore”. I would wholeheartedly agree that that is a distinct possibility. I would also say that someone who asks you to do something against your very nature is not a true friend.
So, if in fact my friend decided that they no longer wanted to be my friend, I would have to live with it. I’m not saying that I would be happy about it. Mostly, I would be disappointed that my friend chose dishonesty over honesty.
Let’s chat about this more and explore it further in a future conversation.
Well, that’s all for now!
Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Love,
Dad
