I hope that you are having a great day and that you are taking care of yourself. You are a smart person, so it makes sense that you are taking good care of yourself.
I was thinking about some of the foundations of taking care of yourself. I mean, why wouldn’t someone take care of themselves. You would think that we would all do whatever we can to do the best possible job of taking care of ourselves. If that was really the case, why don’t more people take care of themselves?
There are any number of reasons that some people don’t take care of themselves. In reality, there are many reasons why we as humans know what is in our best interest, but don’t always do what is in our best interest.
I’ve heard of people who are reluctant to have regular scheduled doctor’s visits. Perhaps they are just procrastinators or perhaps they are reluctant to go because of some underlying fear. Fear of the unknown is common. After all, none of us knows what the doctor is going to tell us after a thorough investigation.
Perhaps the doctor will tell us to lose weight or that we have to avoid eating our favorite foods. For some people, the news could be more serious. Let’s be realistic. Would you rather have a doctor tell you that something is wrong today or to tell you 10, 20, or even 30 years from now when the not-so-good news is now something that is irreversible?
There are many instances in which an unwanted diagnosis can save your life if it is caught and treated early enough.
