My Letters To My Son

Letters

Bonjour Son

June 29, 2026 By Dad

Bonjour Son,

How was your weekend? I hope that it was great, I know that mine was.

OK, it’s Dad confession time. Although I had a great time this past weekend, I didn’t do a good job of maintaining my dietary discipline. In a way I was celebrating the end of another absolutely great week!

When I reflect back on the weekend, I didn’t really even attempt to resist the tempting goodies that were placed before me. I just ate and ate and ate and was thrilled to indulge!

I know that we had been discussing personal doubts, but that did not come into play. In fact, what came into play was not doubt but confidence. Some might even say that over confidence came into play. OK, you might be asking yourself, what do you mean, Dad! Well, every time I’ve wanted to lose a few pounds I’ve been blessed to be able to do it. Now, admittedly, it didn’t always happen as rapidly or as smoothly as I would have wanted, but the goal was reached.

So, in essence my confidence/over confidence has consistently given me the results I wanted, so perhaps I simply ignored any thoughts of restraint.

Fast forward to today and when I stepped on the scale, I was not pleased. I also wasn’t terribly disappointed because extra calories equals extra pounds! It really isn’t rocket science is it?

This is an example of trading long-term growth for short-term pleasure.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
