My Letters To My Son

Great Morning Son

March 16, 2026 By Dad

Great Morning Son,

Greetings and salutations! How are you on this fine day? As always, I hope that all is well!

In a previous conversation, we were discussing varying views on what it takes for some people to be happy. There was a marked difference between the two different schools of thought. The first group, the “every day above ground group,” made it extremely easy for them to be happy. The second group, the “I must have this and I must have that group,” made it much more difficult to be happy.

Which of the group we discussed would you rather be in? Something important to consider is that the first group was happy for what they had, which was another day to be alive. They were in what we call an attitude of gratitude. They were grateful to be alive to see another day.

The second group focused on what they wanted more than what they were already blessed with. Now, don’t get me wrong I am like most everyone else. I typically want more of all the good things in life and I think that’s OK. I don’t believe it is OK to not be grateful for the good things already in your life.

What we’ve discussed is far from all there is to happiness, but gratitude is a huge part of it.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
