My Letters To My Son

Letters

Hi Son

September 23, 2019 By Dad Leave a Comment

Hi Son,

Well, the weekend is done and here we are at the start of yet another amazing week!

By the way, how was your weekend? I hope that you had an opportunity to enjoy it and recharge your batteries for the coming week ahead. My weekend was great. It was so good, in fact, that I felt like I was on vacation!

What will you be this week: “Busy” or “Productive”? I seem to always hear people tell me that they are busy. When someone tells you that they’re busy that could mean a lot of different things.

Usually when someone says they’re busy that means they’re taking action. Taking action is good right? Well, that depends. Taking action for the sake of taking action seems kind of pointless. If there is no goal or milestone our objective behind the actions you take, you can waste a lot of time getting nowhere fast.

You could be busy shuffling papers around on your desk, which is fine if your objective was to clear desktop on that particular day. If your objective for that particular day was to write a 10-page report for the project you’re working on, then shuffling those papers was being busy. If, on the other hand, you had written the report you had planned to write, then you would have been productive.

One of the best ways to keep from just being busy and spinning your wheels is to have a plan for the day ahead. You basically want to, “Begin Your Day with the End in Mind”. That’s paraphrasing Dr. Stephen Covey’s famous phrase, “Begin with the End in Mind”.

Well, that’s all for now!

Have an amazing day and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Love,

Dad
